I am facing the following issue, as soon I am logged into Linx (IPA Client) machine using IPA user , it shows 

id: cannot find name for group ID

id: cannot find name for user ID

 you can verify the same using command whoami , it will not show your username, so in that case please do the following 

strace whoami 2> trace

it will forward all signalling output to text file trace , try to search for word 'denied' , and you will find out the files which are stopping this to get work 

in my case , my users was not able to access /var/lib/sssd directory because of wrong permissions , it should be 655 for directory and 644 for file , once you will change the permission , it will work
